Open Source Initiative

Overview:
In general, Open Source refers to any program whose source code is made available for use or modification as users or other developers see fit. Open Source software is usually developed as a public collaboration and made freely available to a group or network that further develop and improve the original software voluntarily on the network. The Open Source movement has gained momentum as commercial enterprises have adopted Linux as the primary option operating system.

Phonologies has contributed to the Open Source Community by distributing freely portions of source code of its Oktopous™ ccXML PIK. (Platform Integration Kit) under the a BSD style license for usage. This has allowed telephony solution developers worldwide to adapt and evaluate the ccXML standard with no restrictions. The ccXML standard, which is still in Draft stage with the W3C Voice Browser Working Group, has received worldwide acceptance, and is close to becoming a standard due the adoption of the standard worldwide.

Phonologies also works with other third party Open Source products - such as Asterisk, Spider Monkey, Xerces to name a few.
